Branding

By Kathy Dickinson

A strong corporate identity sets your company apart from the competition. That’s why it’s worth it to build awareness of your brand, and to constantly strengthen and protect its integrity. A strong brand builds your credibility, motivates customers to buy from you, and establishes you as a strong force in your market. The American Marketing Association (AMA) defines a brand as a combination of names, terms, signs, symbols or designs that differentiate your goods and services from those of other sellers. Branding means constantly finding new ways to get your prospects and customers to see this distinction, and see you as their sole provider of your product or service. In all the efforts you make to find, retain, and reactivate customers, branding is the common thread, both visually and mentally.  Over time, the images and messages that you select for your company become “branded” upon the minds of your customers and potential customers, just as a steer is “branded” with the symbol of a ranch. As a result of this, you are perceived as a leader in your field, not just one of the pack.

To succeed in branding, you must understand the true needs of your customers and prospects. You must make sure that your brand boosts your credibility, clearly delivers your intended message, and most importantly, is motivating to your buyer. The key to motivation, of course, is real insight into your target market. Only by accurately defining your target market can you create a truly effective brand for your company.

Like a well-cut diamond, a strong branding effort has a number of clear-cut facets. These include effective customer interactions, intelligent marketing efforts, and positive employee communication. Your employees are essential to conveying your brand and your values to your target market. They are one of your most valuable assets, and can articulate and deliver your brand in a way that leaves a lasting, positive impression on your customers. Every person in your company should be empowered by your strong corporate image, and should project it to everyone on a consistent basis. Consistency is the key to any enduring success story.

Your company’s values must be clear, both internally and externally. It is this clarity, this specificity that distinguishes you from your competitors. Your company’s image must be reflected in impeccable communication with your customers and with the public. By handling both routine interactions and extraordinary events in an impeccable fashion, you establish a seamless, positive image that becomes more highly polished over time.

Your brand should permeate every form of communication outside your organization, as well as your communications in-house. If your employees enjoy the same level of quality branded materials as your customers, it is only natural for them to pass this quality on. Professional graphic design services are what make this all possible. It gives you a quiver full of arrows that enables you to hit every possible target.

List management and mailing services, for example, puts you in regular contact with your customers and prospects in a process that continually builds brand awareness.

A Web to Print service, to give another, is a perfect way to create and sustain your brand’s integrity. Web to Print allows you to create and store all of your marketing materials on a single online catalog, giving you oversight and control of all your brand’s content and applications. Some portions of a document will always remain constant, such as your branding designs and messages, while other areas can be easily and regularly customized to meet the needs of individual projects.

There are so many ways to incorporate branding into your business communications.  Here are a few common examples that are widely employed:

  • Brochures, newsletters, sales support materials

  • Branded Apparel for your employees and customers

  • Promotional products

  • Signs, posters and banners

  • Web to Print online ordering

All this is easier and more affordable than you may imagine, and will give your brand the kind of impact that creates concrete results in the growth of your business.large star image
